Getting Started / Hardware + Graphics Requirements
Hardware + Graphics Requirements
HASS Cloud runs in a web browser, so performance depends on browser version, device hardware, graphics settings, and internet stability. Use these requirements to confirm your environment is ready for HASS Cloud.
Supported Browsers
Browser Support Policy
HASS Cloud is a modern web application and requires a current, standards-compliant browser.
We support the current stable version and the previous major version of each supported browser.
In managed or locked-down IT environments, keep browsers updated through your normal patching process.
Windows
Google Chrome (current stable and previous major)
Microsoft Edge (current stable and previous major)
Mozilla Firefox (current stable and previous major)
macOS
Apple Safari (current major and previous major)
Google Chrome (current stable and previous major)
Mozilla Firefox (current stable and previous major)
General Notes
Unsupported browsers include Internet Explorer, legacy non-Chromium Edge, and most embedded or in-app browsers.
The app requires cookies and local storage for sign-in and session behavior. Private browsing and strict privacy settings can break sign-in persistence.
Report and download workflows may require allowing popups and downloads for the site.
Troubleshooting
If the UI looks incorrect or actions are not working, first confirm a supported browser version, then refresh the page. If the issue persists, sign out and sign back in, then review General Errors.
Hardware Recommendations
Recommended Device Specs
Processor (CPU)
Windows, Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 class or better, recent generation preferred.
macOS, Apple Silicon M1 or better recommended for best responsiveness.
Memory (RAM)
8 GB minimum.
16 GB recommended, especially if multiple applications or browser tabs are open.
Storage
Projects are stored online, so local storage is mainly used for browser operation and downloads.
Multi-Monitor Setups
Multiple monitors can improve workflow efficiency, especially when reviewing data entry and results side-by-side.
Display, Screen Size, and Resolution
Display Guidance
Recommended Screen Size
24-inch monitor or larger for daily use.
Recommended Resolution
1920x1080 minimum.
2560x1440 recommended, especially for wide spreadsheet workflows.
Browser Zoom
If text or controls appear too large or too small, set browser zoom to 100% before troubleshooting further.
Scaling (Windows and macOS)
Windows, 100% to 125% display scaling typically provides the best balance of readability and usable horizontal space for spreadsheet layouts.
macOS, use a scaled resolution that keeps text readable while preserving enough horizontal space for columns.
Graphics and Hardware Acceleration
Graphics Performance and Rendering
Hardware Acceleration
Most browsers use hardware acceleration to improve rendering performance. In some environments, including older drivers, remote desktops, or certain GPU configurations, it can also cause visual glitches or slow scrolling.
Recommended Setting
Keep hardware acceleration enabled by default for best performance.
If You Experience Display Issues
Toggle hardware acceleration in browser settings, restart the browser, then reload HASS Cloud.
Graphics Requirements
Integrated graphics are supported for typical workflows.
A dedicated GPU is not required, but may improve responsiveness on very large projects or when using multiple high-resolution displays.
Internet Connection and Network Considerations
Connectivity Requirements
Recommended Connection
25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload are recommended.
Stable connection quality with low packet loss is more important than peak speed.
Performance Troubleshooting
If HASS Cloud Feels Slow or Unresponsive
Close Unused Tabs
Other heavy web applications can reduce browser performance.
Restart the Browser
This can clear memory buildup and stale sessions.
Check Browser Updates
Confirm you are using a supported browser version.
Disable Extensions Temporarily
Test again with extensions disabled or in a private window.
Known Performance Limits
Very large projects and large exports may take longer to load, calculate, and download. If a workflow repeatedly stalls, capture the steps and review Calculation Errors & Warnings and General Errors.
